process by guiding and motivating teams to compete at the highest level. A lot of CFO aspirants are seeking a good Mentor/Team Advisor who can help them succeed at the competition and perhaps with their overall career. If you are a business educator, professional coach or mentor, manager, practicing CFO/CEO or entrepreneur, or a recent business graduate with case study competition experience, you are welcome to enlist as Mentor/Team Advisor to enable us to connect you with our aspirants who may need your help.

Volunteer as External Panel Judge
Are you a senior business educator, practicing CFO/CEO or other C-suite executive? Are you professionally-qualified (e.g. CA(SA), CIMA/CGMA, ACCA/FCCA) and/or have an advanced post-graduate degree? You are welcome to be part of the team that pioneered the business case study revolution in Africa.

Judges’ Roles & Responsibilities
Each judging panel consists of three or more members, and will include representation from each of the following groups:
- Business academic
- Senior executive/practicing CFO/CEO or entrepreneur
- Policy maker/Professional body/Industry or specific interest group
Judges are expected to have expertise in the following:
- Identification / assessment of the main issues in the case;
- Distinguishing symptoms from underlying problems;
- Assessing the relevance and effectiveness of recommendations;
- Assessing the feasibility of implementation plans (planning, organisation, costs, etc.);
- Asking good and probing questions after the presentations and evaluating responses;
- Providing insightful oral and/or written feedback arising from their marking of assigned reports and/or stage presentations.
To better discharge their role, judges are expected to review their assigned case(s) in advance, and familiarizing themselves with the competition rules and winning criteria.

Volunteer as External (Report) Examiner
If you are an academic or business educator with a Professional Qualification and/or Masters level qualification with over 5 years experience teaching and marking student assignments/dissertations at post graduate level, you are welcome to be part of the team that pioneers the business case study revolution in Africa.
Why volunteer as an external marker/examiner?

- Build your profile as an external examiner/marker/assessor for The CFO brand; and
- Gain insights to state-of-the-art in case study methodology and transfer these skills to your institution.
External (Report) Examiners' Roles & Responsibilities
Each examiner will be assigned about 5 to 10 reports to mark and compile a SWOT feedback for each report using a model answer and template that will be availed. A second examiner will double check the quality of the marking much as you will be assigned to moderate the quality of marking performed by your peers (other examiners). All markers will get together to debate and agree on the top reports for further evaluation until the final 8 reports are selected and agreed upon by all examiners by consensus.
Examiners are expected to have expertise in the following:
- Strategy formulation and execution;
- Application of technical financial and business principles and models in solving problems;
- Identification/assessment of the main issues in the case;
- Distinguishing symptoms from underlying problems;
- Assessing the relevance and effectiveness of recommendations;
- Assessing the feasibility of implementation plans (planning, organisation, costs, etc.);
- Providing insightful verbal and written feedback.
To better discharge their role, External (Report) Examiners are expected to review their assigned case(s) in advance, and familiarise themselves with the competition rules and winning criteria.

We invite you to share your experience and contribute to our database of case study scenarios for incorporation into future case studies to your credit whilst also expanding your horizons!

Volunteer as Student
The 4th edition of The CFO Case Study Competition is expected to involve over 600 teams of which the top 6 teams potentially representing internationally-oriented business schools and companies in Africa and around the world will be arriving in South Africa in October 2019 for the continental and global semi-finals and finals. It will attract sponsors and judges from leading organizations keen to meet top students and entry level professionals who are capable of making a difference. Why must I volunteer?
